Week of a Creative Business student going on a RUN-EU adventure to Ireland.
Ready for takeoff!
After landing at Dublin airport, I decided to meet one of my peers in the city centre to do some exploring. After that we took the bus to Athlone, where we were staying for the rest of the week.
On the first full day in Athlone, we went to the Technological University of the Shannon, where we’ll spend the rest of the week working on a ‘Short Advanced Programme’ on sustainable marketing. We started off with a group building exercise.
As well as the lectures and interesting people we were meeting during the week, RUN-EU also organised other fun activities, like a city tour and a multi-cultural evening.
On the first 2 days in Ireland, the weather was surprisingly good. This is one of the pictures I took of Athlone during the city tour, 10 minutes later it started raining like crazy (welcome to Ireland!)...
When you visit Athlone, you cannot go without visiting Sean’s Bar. This bar claims to be the oldest bar in the world, the perfect place to try a Guinness beer.
Besides all the fun, there was of course work to do. On the second day in Athlone we met with the CEO of the company for who we were going to set up a marketing strategy.
On Valentines day we went to one of the clubs in Athlone, because no trip goes without drinks and dances!
The morning after going out, some caffeine was much needed (ehm, why don’t we have a Starbucks at our university??). But the hangover didn’t last long, since the NHL Stenden coaches arrived for some fun lectures on content creation.
After presenting our projects to the company, it was already time to go home again. Of course after saying goodbye to all the great people I’ve met!
