“So there I was on the centre spot. All around me the overwhelming noise, with everyone shouting and singing. It was as if the stadium was moving, the crowd was buzzing with joy. Player or supporter, for a moment, everyone was one. I don't know anymore if I took any good pictures, but that moment, when FC Emmen got promoted, is one of my best memories.
I joined the club when I was sixteen. The marketing manager had said I could live stream using my Twitch-match for an event. And it worked out well, as not long after he asked if I wanted to do the socials for FC Emmen. I didn't have to think about my answer for long: I come from Emmen and I love football and entertaining. But what then happened was beyond my wildest dreams.
As content creator, I get to experience all the great moments and victories. I've stood cheering on the sidelines for so many great matches and I've been able to see nearly every stadium from inside. The atmosphere in a stadium is indescribable – and every supporter knows what I mean!
It was hard when I left the club, but I'd got my college diploma and I knew I wanted to go on to a university of applied sciences. I'm now focusing more on my studies, but I can't keep completely still. So I'm working part-time for a company that does personal branding for sports people. I'm happy being able to combine sport and creating content again. You can take the boy out of the stadium, but you can't take the stadium out of the boy.”
