Ode to the animals

This year, CityProms is dedicated to animals. The NHL Stenden Choir will give this theme a unique interpretation. Led by conductor Hans de Wilde, the choir, in collaboration with the St Vitus children and youth choir from Leeuwarden, will perform a specific series of songs written by Annie M.G. Schmidt and composed by Harry Bannink. These will include songs from the popular series ‘Ja zuster, nee zuster’. In all these songs, animals play a role. This ‘Ode to animals’ will be accompanied musically by a combo consisting of Johan Bijhold behind the piano, Joost van Schaik on drums and double bassist Oeds Bouwsma.
The concert will be performed twice on 29 June, at 16:30 and 20:00 in the Grote Kerk in Leeuwarden. Entrance is free.
It promises to be a feast (of recognition) for young and old.
