You’ll learn how to collect and mould data like a digital sculptor. 🔮 You’ll master data collection, modelling, and interactive visualizations. These insights? They’re like supercharged decision-making tools. 🎮🤓

In this course, you will learn how to explore and make data look great with dashboards and insights for businesses to help them make informed decisions.  You will develop a data mindset by working with clients on real life business cases to find the true power behind their data. Such a business case could be for instance ... how might we use data to reduce waiting times at Café IF so that students get their food faster?  You will learn how to collect and model data and build interactive visualisations that turn data into insights that power better decisions. 

This minor is offered by Hotel Management. 

 

Structure of the minor

  • 15 ECTS  (420 study hours)
  • 9 week course
  • The learning outcomes will cover:
    • Selecting appropriate data sources based on a real-life business case
    • Building a data model using Microsoft Power BI
    • Constructing and analyzing data visualizations to support decision making for a real-life business case.
    • Applying data visualization design to effectively communicate data to decision makers
  • We will meet you where you’re at in terms of experience with data, this course is for all levels of expertise.   If you’re curious about data but have no experience or prior knowledge, that’s ok! This course starts from the basics.  But if you want to take it to the next level, that’s fine too.
  • This course offers hands-on labs, expert learning sessions, live demos, Q&A sessions, group discussions, and lectures amongst others
  • The course closely connects together with (hospitality) industry experts for the business cases
  • You will use readily available online resources to learn Power BI - self-study supported by in-person and online expert sessions.
  • This course brings in experts from around the globe to bring you the latest in, for instance design, data modeling, Power BI, data visualisation, and storytelling.
