The International HRM and Global Work Trends (IHRM) minor was developed by NHL Stenden Academy of Business & Leadership lecturers in cooperation with different HR managers and experts from different international organisations. The main focus in this minor is on HRM issues in an international context. More exactly, this minor focuses on IHRM from an organisational perspective, having as focal point its markets, company strategy, people, structure and alignment of human resources with the internal structure and processes and as well as external ones.

The main focus in this minor is on HRM in an international context. More exactly, it focuses on IHRM from an organisational perspective like: its markets, company strategy, structure and alignment of HRM with the internal structure and processes and as well as external ones. Some of the topics tackled in this minor are: introduction to IHRM; strategic HRM, internationalisation and IHRM; managing knowledge in multinational firms; leadership in the international context; global performance rating; international recruitment; assessment and rewarding in international companies; communication in organisations; and sustainability. Because the HRM field deals with people and people are complex entities, social psychology and a training in intercultural sensitivity for HRM purposes will be offered.
This minor is offered by the study program Human Resource Managementand will allow you to complete your minor and pre-master’s in one. This minor will give you a unique and direct access to the Master Sustainable Entrepreneurship at the RUG/Campus Fryslân.
What do you need to do?
- Pass the minor;
- Complete your research assignment with at least a 7;
- Write a supplementary justification of your research, indicating how it contributes to current (business) sustainability challenges.

There is an assumption that you hold the propaedeutic year of your bachelor's programme. Furthermore, we advise you to make sure that you have also completed at least 30 credits in year 2 and/or 3 so that you have just a slightly more solid foundation to participate in the minor.
