Minor content
You specialize in one of the following themes:
- inclusive language use and (world) citizenship
- language and multilingualism didactics
- dialogic interaction promotion
- stimulating active and passive written language use
- application of digital tools in multilingual education
You will be guided by experts of the Research group Multilingualism & Literacy. During (guest) lectures you will expand your knowledge by working on practical cases. You will gain practical experience through workplace learning. You will also train specific skills in workshops. Thanks to working visits in the Netherlands and abroad, you gain more insight into the theme. They also give you new ideas for your own project.
You can choose to do part or all of the program abroad. For students who do the program in the Netherlands, a trip abroad is organized (if possible). If you choose to work abroad, you will receive online support and guidance.
This minor is offered by the study program Primary Education.
Structure of the minor
You methodically carry out a design research project focused on a relevant real-life issue of an educational institution and/or another social institution in the Netherlands or abroad. You will work together with fellow students who may also come from a university of applied sciences abroad. In this way, you will learn to think about inclusive language use from different social perspectives.
You work on the issue using the DBE cycle, including feedback rounds with the client, other DBE groups and the supervisor. You meet at least twice a week as a working group, of which at least one is guided by an expert. One of these sessions may be conducted at the client's premises in consultation with your supervisor. The supporting (guest) lectures and workshops are offered on a fixed day. You also work at least two days a week at a placement school. The other working visits and the optional trip abroad are planned in joint consultation.
The (guest) lectures and workshops will be linked as much as possible to the phases of the DBE cycle. We think it is important to ensure that the content of these lectures and workshops is in line with what you need at that moment. Therefore, we expressly invite you to indicate your working group's wishes.
