This course provides training to officers in charge of a navigational watch to operate ships in polar waters and to address those additional provisions as required by the Polar Code, in order to take into account the climatic conditions of polar waters and to meet appropriate standards of maritime safety and pollution prevention.
Polar Waters includes both Arctic and Antarctic waters as defined in SOLAS and MARPOL regulations.
The duration of the course is 2,5 days, from Monday until Wednesday. The course is scheduled to take place on:

This course is meant for masters, chief mates and officers in charge of a navigational watch in ships operating in polar waters, with a valid CoC.
The course fee of Basic Training for ships operating in Polar waters is €1000,-. Price per 1st September 2019 is € 1080,- (exempt from VAT), including lunch, coffee, and tea, excluding travel and subsistence expenses.

The lectures will take place in a classroom and will include practical examples. In addition, simulation training is incorporated in the course. The simulator exercises create situations that provide an opportunity to acquire the required skills as specified in the regulations.
The training programme has been approved by the Netherlands Shipping Inspectorate. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate for Basic training for ships operating in polar waters will be issued.
