The DP Simulator course offers you the opportunity to develop your DP skills through balanced delivery of theory and practical simulation tasks. The course provides you with further insight, experience and confidence in performing offshore operations under DP control.

Course duration and dates

The duration of the course is 4 days, from Monday 9am until Thursday 3.30pm. The course is scheduled to take place on:

Entry requirements

Completion of DP Induction Course and completion of the required DP Seatime days on board. (depending on the DP Offshore Scheme). Following documents have to be presented prior to entering the course:

  • DP Log Book
  • Certificate of Competence
  • Company Confirmation Letter

Course fee

The DP Simulation course fee is € 1975,- (exempt from VAT) including lunch, coffee and tea, excluding travel and subsistence expenses.

Course contents

The DP simulator course principally involves simulated DP operations including errors, faults, and failures, giving the participants the opportunity to apply the lessons learned in both the Induction course and the 60 DP sea time days required for completion of qualifying DPO training tasks.

The DP Simulation course covers the following topics: 

  • Practical operations of the DP system
  • DP operations
  • DP alarms, warnings, and emergency procedure


The course is Nautical Institute compliant and approved. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate will be issued.
