Flags at half-mast for freedom of expression

Monday 02 November 2020

On Monday 2 November, educational institutions throughout Europe will commemorate the assassinated teacher Samuel Paty. He was murdered on 16 October for exercising his right to freedom of expression. This act has been felt by teachers all over the world.

This Monday at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, we will also reflect on this act of terror and will fly our flag at half-mast at our locations. We are an inclusive university of applied sciences and we respect each other's cultures, backgrounds and beliefs. Lecturers and students should be able to work and study in freedom and safety. Freedom of expression is essential for this.
