
Dr Weishaupt has been the Professor of Applied Sciences in the Department of Professional Educational Institutions since early 2015. He also serves as the principal/administrator of Roelof van Echten College, a school for secondary education in the town of Hoogeveen in Friesland. This school is still under development in many ways, and current efforts focus on improving the position of teachers in order to build a strong educational institution.
Dr Weishaupt holds a degree in Technical Physics from Twente University, where he earned his PhD in 1996, writing his thesis on the formation of titanium silicide layers. His educational career runs the gamut: having started out in lower technical education, he eventually went on to obtain his PhD. His personal educational journey is part of what drives him to contribute to high-quality education for all pupils and students. Dr Weishaupt taught physics at a Christian technical college in Hoogeveen from 1979 to 1986. After earning his PhD he was employed in the tourist and recreational sector until 2015, where he was a director of educational attractions.
