A lecturer in Research Methods at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences’ School of Business, Folkert de Jong was previously employed as a primary school teacher, a secondary school teacher of Dutch and Frisian, and also taught language instruction in the primary teacher education programme.

He is currently working on his thesis, 'The effects of modes of immersion on English-language proficiency and their consequences for academic performance'. This research examines the relationship between language mastery in English and language acquisition among Bachelor’s students in international economics and business courses in the Netherlands.
