Ms Pomp earned degrees in Educational Social Work and Sociology, and since 2005 she has been conducting research into forensic social network analysis (FSNA). She previously worked as a researcher at the Dr S van Mesdag Forensic Psychiatric Centre (FPC) and as a researcher/FSNA project coordinator at the Expertise Centre for Forensic Psychiatry. She has been a member of the Stenden University of Applied Sciences faculty since 2009, where she gives guest lectures and courses on social factors which could potentially play a part in recurring high-risk behaviour.
