Showcases
In the form of posters and stands, we will showcase the full pallet of specialisations within the Academy of Technology & Innovation at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. Get inspired and talk to each other about possible collaborations. All this while enjoying a sandwich, so that you can go on refreshed and full of inspiration.
Architecture and Construction Engineering
The Architecture and Construction Engineering programme trains students for the future. We would like to take you into the world of architecture, architectural research, construction, urban planning and execution.
Civil Engineering
Students on the Civil Engineering programme work on the design of large structures within hydraulic engineering and infrastructure, investigating technical feasibility.
Spatial Development
Mobility and public space are inextricably linked. When solving problems, you not only have to deal with vehicles, but above all with people and their environment. The programme presents products from the minor 'Traffic and environmental psychology in public space' and other work from the Spatial Development minors.
Biology and Medical Laboratory Research
In the programme, students conduct research on diseases, drug development and DNA analysis. But did you know that we also look at how to set up and optimise biological methods to produce new raw materials (e.g. made by bacteria) for sustainable plastics.
Chemistry
Chemistry is everywhere! Your mobile phone, the clothes you wear, medicines, you name it: it's all made possible by chemistry. Visit this programme and find out how chemical research contributes to developing and preserving products.
Circular Plastics
Students and researchers of the Circular Plastics Professorship present their research in the field of sustainable plastics. From recycling sailcloth to recycling Wadden waste. Come along, engage in conversation, get inspired or explore a future collaboration.
Computer Vision & Data Science
Are you interested in the various applications of image data analysis and artificial intelligence? For inspiration, our students and researchers present various applications in agro, plastics, human safety, construction and traffic safety.
Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
Within the ICT programme, students are trained to become ICT professionals with a broad knowledge of software and business processes. Specialisations include game development, project management and artificial intelligence. Come see the stand and see how they bring ICT and research together in labs such as the Intelligent Software & Algorithms (ISA) Lab.
Applied Mathematics
Mathematics plays an important role in many organisations, such as insurance companies, hospitals, software companies, commerce and infrastructure. Almost everyone notices its effects, but few people know how important mathematical models are for business operations. We would like to present the field of Applied Mathematics and what we can do for you.
Electrical & Electronic Engineering
Come see the stand of the Electrical & Electronic Engineering programme, where practice and research come together in the creation of robots, smart meters, game consoles and more. Year 1 and 2 students will be happy to show you what they have been working on. There will also be the opportunity to talk to graduating students about how they apply research in their final work.
Industrial Automation & Robotics
In our stand, we will present the opportunities that Industrial Automation & Robotisation offers for economic growth and increased productivity through various demos.
Smart Sustainable Manufacturing
The manufacturing industry is not only an important driver for the (regional) economy, it can also play an important role in finding solutions to our societal challenges in the field of sustainable economy, climate change and ageing. The Smart Sustainable Manufacturing research group will present the field of Smart Industry through various demos of realised setups and products.
Industrial Engineering & Management
You have to keep innovating to stay competitive. What such an innovation can look like and how, as an organisation, you can get started with themes such as corporate social responsibility and a Smart Connected Industry, we are happy to present to you at our stand using a number of examples that our students have been working on recently.
Biotechnology
Choose the technology of the future! By learning to understand organisms and being able to adapt characteristics, students can use innovative solutions to prepare the world for a sustainable future.
Chemical Engineering
Chemical laboratory research into large-scale production processes, that's what this programme is all about. From hand soap to medication to clean drinking water, you can't think of anything, or it has been figured out by chemical technologists. Visit the stand and explore with us the world of chemical engineering and how we might be able to work together.
Water Technology
Without water, life would be impossible. The Water Technology professorship therefore conducts research in the field of physical-chemical processes, by using scientific and educational activities. Using various techniques, it looks for ways to prevent water wastage and to provide the growing world population with good-quality water. There is cooperation with various partners: within NHL Stenden with Circular Plastics, with other members of Water Campus Leeuwarden (Wetsus, Water Application Centre, Van Hall Larenstein) and internationally with a strong network in Brazil.
