Student experiences

Lea (21) is a German student currently in her second year of International Business Administration (IBA, previously International Applied Business Administration). She tells us about her study programme and what it is like to study abroad.

Liliya (26) is a Ukrainian student who grew up in Austria and speaks five different languages. She moved from Vienna to Leeuwarden to study International Business (IB, previously International Business and Management Studies) at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences.

Lisa (22) is a Dutch third-year Creative Business student (CB, previously Media and Entertainment Management) at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. Luisa Fierro, International Business student, chaired WhatSAB, the student advisory board for the Digital Learning and Working Environment (DLWO), right from its inception in 2018. Used to working in an international environment, Luisa seized the chance to fine tune her international management skills.

Marie (24) is a German third-year International Hospitality Management (IHM) student at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. We asked her about her internship and her experiences at NHL Stenden.

Natalie Shaw, lecturer at ITEps (International Teacher Education for primary schools), believes everyone should have access to the best education. With 15 years’ experience teaching in (International) Schools across the globe, including the UK, Germany China, Cambodia and educational work experience in Thailand and India, she has a wealth of insights to share with her ITEps students.

Nienke van Kassel (20) is a Leisure & Events Management student. She has always wanted to go to America and this is exactly what she did! She did her minors at Michigan State University and lived the ‘college life’. Nienke: “It was just like in the movies. Students were wearing sweaters with college logo’s on it and when the sports team was playing, of course, everybody was cheering them on.”

Olcay Ozdemir (28), German Media and Entertainment Management alumnus extraordinaire, has made tv programmes all over the world, from Dubai to Melbourne. Ever since his graduation, he has steadily worked his way to the top as a producer and he has been the face of Germany’s info-tainment show Galileo for over two years. Pepijn Bodegom, ITEps alumnus, feels right at home in an international environment. In fact, the teacher in the primary department of the International School Haarlem has felt very much at home there for years.
