Every year, the Library of NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden organises a three-day book market where old Library books but also donated books are sold. This year, it was decided to donate the proceeds of the market to the Voedselbank Leeuwarden.
In the Netherlands, more than a million people live below the poverty line. Food banks help the poorest by providing them with food parcels. In Leeuwarden, 500 families rely on the food bank's service. To provide clients with enough food, the food bank works together with companies, institutions, governments and individuals.
The book market was a great success, both students and staff were enthusiastic and bought the book stall empty. This year's book sale raised €1650. Voedselbank Leeuwarden will let this amount benefit the 500 families who use the food bank's services.
