Lecturer and Researcher
Professorship of Applied Sciences in Computer Vision & Artificial Intelligence
Ben Wolf holds a PhD from the University of Groningen in Artificial Intelligence applied to Hydrodynamic Imaging. During his PhD (2016-2020) he developed a novel flow-sensor, based on the lateral line organ of fish, that can measure water motion with high precision. This new sensor and a range of algorithms allowed him to detect the shape, speed, size, and location of underwater objects. His patent application and papers on the topic earned him a Cum Laude distinction for his PhD. Later (2020) Ben worked at TU Delft on underwater trash detection using a swarm of autonomous underwater vehicles. He used this experience to teach Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (2022) at the University of Groningen. He currently works as a lecturer and researcher at NHL Stenden Hogeschool at the Professorship Computer Vision & Artificial Intelligence, where he is responsible for teaching and mentoring students from both minor and master programs.
