“That first rugby training session had such a great atmosphere and it didn't feel like people judged you, so I could just be myself. When I decided to study at NHL Stenden, the first thing I did was check if there was a rugby team. I joined the Leeuwarden rugby club soon after I started my studies here.”
When time just flies, you know you're in the right place
“One of the important things when you play rugby is communication and being as transparent as you possibly can. It's the same in my studies. We work in groups so we have to work as a team if we want to get things done. And that means listening too. When someone from a completely different background and culture shares their insights and views, it really does make a difference. We learn from each other and looking at a situation from a different perspective can change the direction of your ideas. Even if I don't change my opinion, it's good to have a discussion that makes you think about your argumentation.”
