“My high school in Italy has a partnership with NHL Stenden, so during my final couple of years at school, two Italian students came to talk about what NHL Stenden is like and what it offers as a university of applied sciences. I was really excited to find out more, so I booked a plane ticket so that I could take part in the next On-Campus Open Day. I knew that if I wanted to get answers to my questions, I needed to get involved and take part in open days and information webinars. And it really did help. It confirmed my choices and I was able to ask everything I needed and wanted to know. And I got precise answers, so that was really nice.”
International environment
“I’m Romanian but I’ve lived in Italy my whole life. I’ve known for some time that I wanted to work in an international environment, so when looking for the right degree for me, I started looking into courses that would give me that opportunity. That led me to the degree in international business. After reading the description of it and then participating in the open day, I got more and more excited about it. My focus at high school was first on hospitality and hotel management, but I changed in my third year as I wanted to have different choices for the future. International Business matched this decision well.”
Good impressions
“At the open day itself, I remember feeling more and more excited about the programme and confident I’d made the right choice. The whole day was well-organised and made me want to go back. I got loads of really useful information and the programme was varied. There were welcome snacks and a welcome bag when we arrived, and there were lots of students all willing to help out and answer your questions. We had lunch together and there was an afternoon hangout event which gave a really good impression of what student life was like at NHL Stenden.”
“It’s a really good idea to go to an open day, especially if you’re coming from a different country like I was. It’s a big move to make, after all. It gave me a clearer idea of what to expect. Of course, when you actually start your studies, you still have to get used to certain things. Like the way of teaching and having to speak English the whole time. But the Open Day prepares you for this so it really is worth going to. I was happy I got to participate in the Open Day and would definitely recommend it to future students.”
