Hospitality studies
“My journey started with a secondary vocational diploma from the Hotel and Catering Collegelevel-4 education programme MOH (formerly known as ‘Middelbare Hotelschool’), and then I went on to do the associate degree in Emmen. The expectations were high, but the shift turned out surprisingly smooth. The emphasis on project-based work called Design-Based Education (DBE) means there are no traditional exams and that there's the opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals made the transition to an associate degree much easier. Although dealing with an English-language study initially seemed challenging, I quickly mastered the language. After completing my associate degree, I was determined to continue with the bachelor’s programme, where I am currently in my final year.”
Grand Tour
“One of the absolute highlights of my studies has been participating in minors (elective modules), which you can pursue worldwide, such as through Grand Tour. I chose to do a minor in Bangkok, Thailand. Here, I not only found out about Thai culture and landscapes but also made new friends. I knew no one when I arrived, but I left with an amazing group of friends, and we still organise parties to catch up! The Grand Tour gave me the opportunity to broaden my horizons and gain unforgettable experiences, something I would recommend to everyone. It's truly an investment in your future.”
Game Changer in Amsterdam
“I am currently in the final phase of my studies, completing a 10-month internship in Food & Beverage Management at a hotel in Amsterdam. My work is dynamic, and no day is the same. What I appreciate the most is the chance to collaborate with fellow managers, put my own ideas forward and make decisions together. This experience has sharpened my leadership skills and fuelled my determination to grow into a true Game Changer.”
My dream
“My ultimate goal is to become the General Manager at De l'Europe. Thanks to my education at Hotel Management School, I have developed a broad foundation of practical experiences, ranging from human resources to marketing and front-office management. I am driven and determined to make the most out of my career. My motto, "be brave, take risks. Nothing can replace experience," reflects my determination to embrace every adventure with open arms and gather experiences that will help me achieve my goal.”
