Young and driven
“My academic journey began four years ago when I enrolled for the associate degree in Hotel Management in Emmen. What immediately drew me to this study was the opportunity to connect directly with people and businesses in practice. This provided me with the chance to gain valuable practical experience early in my academic career. After graduating from the bachelor's, I continued my journey with the part-time master's programme International Hospitality and Service Management. I particularly appreciate only having to attend school twice a month as this gives me the freedom to plan my own schedule for school assignments, work, and leisure. This flexibility suits me perfectly.”
“The master’s programme offers numerous opportunities, and my goal is to elevate my career to a higher level and grow into a challenging and responsible position. I am determined to achieve my ambitions, and this programme will certainly help me.”
Balance and seizing opportunities
“One of my strengths is my ability to find a balance between my study and work. I am someone who rarely says no to new opportunities and experiences. For me, the motto "saying no might mean missing out on a great opportunity" applies. I’ve been restaurant manager at Van der Valk Hotel Spier since the third year of my bachelor's programme, and I've been working at Voilà as a project assistant since my fourth year. I did my final 10-month internship for my bachelor's at Voilà and the work not only involved managerial tasks but also practical work, fostering my growth as a professional. Both roles complement my master's studies well.”
Connection and growth
“A unique aspect of my studies is the opportunity to work on group assignments. This has not only strengthened my academic development but has also led to close bonds with fellow students. These connections extend across generations, as I have met a wide range of people during my master's studies, of different ages and with diverse backgrounds and career paths. This has given me the chance to strengthen my network. The future holds countless possibilities, and I am determined to further develop my management skills, wherever that journey may take me.”
