Ramon's RUN-EU in Ireland
“RUN-EU brings out the best in every student”
Ramon
International Business student
Some of the opportunities students get at NHL Stenden are a blend of extracurricular and curricular activities and the line between them can be very fine. Ramon Jongschaap went to Ireland with the RUN-EU for a Short Advanced Programme as part of his studies, but, on the side, he’s also Chair of the RUN-EU Student Advisory Board at NHL Stenden.
“Greeted by typical Irish weather, we arrived in Dublin in the November of 2020 and took the train to Limerick in the west of Ireland for the RUN-EU General Assembly. We stayed in the ‘George Boutique Hotel’ which was an astonishing place with a typical Irish pub in it. On the first day we had an introduction session in the board room of the universiry and a little campus tour.”
Regional University Network-European University
RUN-EU challenges you to find real-life solutions to regional, national or international issues. You get to work with students, teachers and companies from all over Europe.
Short Advanced Programme
“The purpose of the week was to complete a SAP (Short Advanced Programme). Mine was about food waste. With the question; 'how to reduce food waste for coming generations?'. In these short advanced programs you work a small period of time with all members of the RUN-EU universities and deliver a solution on the week after. I worked with Finish, Austrian, Portuguese and Hungarian students. All students are from different studies which connect very well. Later in the week we worked on the SAP and also did some fun things! We visited several Irish pubs in Limerick and did fun activities at night. On Thursday the 'Winner' Of the food challenge was announced (I did not win unfortunately) and the winning group presented at the General Assembly presentation on Friday. On Thursday we had a full-on Gala dinner with all students, staff and partners of the Program. It was really fun to talk to all the staff of the RUN-EU programme and have a nice dinner as well.”
The experience in Ireland was amazing. To see the developments of the Program and also work with students from all the different universities. RUN-EU brings out the best in every student.
