Sandor Beintema enjoys traveling and this was one of the reasons he decided to do the bachelor's degree at Hotel Management School Leeuwarden. The opportunities to explore new studies, people and cultures and, of course, travel meant he could do something completely different from what he was used to. And that's what makes it so much fun – along with the extra activities Sandor is involved in such as organising the introduction week.

Studying and traveling

“I’m currently in my second year of study, and I've noticed that I learn the most from my practical internships. It's great to work in different departments as it has a positive impact on my future. I truly enjoy collaborating with others, and that's one of the reasons why this programme suits me so well. We often have to work with fellow students on assignments, allowing everyone to showcase their unique talents.”

“Now, I'm faced with a decision in my third year, where I'm torn between going to Indonesia, where my friends and family live, or choosing another destination. It's a challenge because there are so many attractive options to choose from. However, for my ten-month internship, I am determined to go abroad, regardless of the exact location. My mission is simple: keep learning, because you're never too old to discover and learn new things.”

Study Start Week

“In addition to my studies, I serve as a Host & Event Coordinator (hoco). As a hoco, together with other students, I am responsible for organising the Study Start Week (SSW), an event that spans an entire week. The SSW is held in the first week of the academic year and is an opportunity for students to meet new people and potentially form lifelong friendships. As a hoco, I find it rewarding to assist other students in taking their first steps in their study adventure.”

Indonesia

“My dream is to one day start my own business or take over the family restaurant in Indonesia. The restaurant is known for its delicious pizzas and Dutch specialties like croquettes. Although I intend to return to Indonesia someday, I am currently fully integrated into an amazing community of students, teachers, and friends here in Leeuwarden.”
