Public transport

During the day, the train runs from Leeuwarden to Harlingen Haven every half hour. The regional buses and Interliner stop right in front of the ferry departure hall. For travel information about public transport you can consult www.9292ov.nl.

Traveling by car

If you travel by car, follow the Harlingen exit on the N31. This is also the route from the Afsluitdijk and Sneek. If you are going to Terschelling for a few days, park in the Tjerk Hiddes long-term car park at the locks. A shuttle bus runs from the parking area that connects to the ferry services.

Ferry services

Shipping company Doeksen is responsible for the ferry service between Harlingen and Terschelling. The crossing to Terschelling with the regular ferry service takes approximately two hours. With the express service the crossing takes about 45 minutes. More information about departure times and online bookings can be found on the Rederij Doeksen website. The address of the ferry terminal in Harlingen is: Waddenpromenade 5, 8861 NT, Harlingen.

Arrival on Terschelling

You will arrive in the village of West-Terschelling by boat. Following on from all ferry services, taxis and buses are available at the ferry terminal. With the bus you take the bus towards 'Oosterend'. After approximately 5 minutes you can get off at the WestCord hotel ‘Schylge’ bus stop. The Maritime Institute is located next to the hotel.

You can also walk to the Maritime Institute. It takes about 15 minutes over the Willem Barentszkade along the harbour and the marina.
