NHL Stenden hosts STEAM activity at primary school SWS De Frissel: 'Plastic Destroy Robot'

On 11 April, NHL Stenden organized an inspiring STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) activity at SWS De Frissel, a primary school in Drachtstercompagnie. The theme? Plastic Destroy Robot. Year 6 pupils stepped into the role of young researchers, exploring questions such as: What is plastic? What is it made of? And why is it harmful to the environment?

Driven by their own curiosity, the students worked in teams to design their very own "Plastic Destroyer Robot." Using programmable tools like Mindstorm, Dash, Photon, and Cue, they transformed their ideas into working robots designed to tackle plastic waste - and of course, each one was put to the test!

This activity is part of RUN-EU – Future Innovators Labs, a European collaboration within the Regional University Network – European University (RUN-EU), in which NHL Stenden is one of the participating partners to design and share impactful STEAM activities. STEAM empowers for different target groups to think creatively, ask meaningful questions, and develop innovative, solution-oriented skills that are vital for the future.
