NHL Stenden presents cheque to Ukrainians in the Netherlands foundation

On Friday 13 May, a cheque worth €3927,- was handed over to Ukrainian students Yelyzaveta, Kateryna, Yuliia, Maria en Taisiia at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. These students are in close contact with the foundation 'Ukrainians in the Netherlands'. This foundation is committed with hundreds of volunteers to help those whose lives have been tragically disrupted by the war in Ukraine. Employees of the college collected this amount by selling bags to students and staff. The proceeds were then doubled by the Executive Board of NHL Stenden to the amount now on the cheque.

You are not alone
Employees of NHL Stenden have in their daily work a lot of contact with students from Ukraine and felt they had to do something to help. This led to a bag action, Henk Moorlag explains. Together with colleagues at the Emmen location, Henk came up with an action where they printed fabric bags with the text ''It happens because we make it happen'' and ''Make the impossible possible''. It yielded a sum of €1963. Henk: "We are very proud of this result with which we not only raise money but also show our students that they are not alone". The Executive Board of NHL Stenden thinks it is a great initiative and will double the amount. Meanwhile, the amount has been transferred to the foundation 'Ukrainians in the Netherlands'.
