Dr. Ir. Peter Joore is Professor of Systemic Design at NHL Stenden. He investigates how small, incremental innovations can contribute to major societal transitions. In both his research and teaching, he consistently seeks to connect practice, science, and society. From 2008 to 2024, he served as chair of the university’s community of over thirty lecturers, helping to further shape practice-based research within NHL Stenden.
Peter has a background in Industrial Design Engineering. He began his career as a product designer in the private sector, working among other projects on the interior of a Fokker aircraft and the signage system for the Mass Transit Railway in Hong Kong. Later, he became a senior researcher and advisor at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and contributed to the establishment of the Faculty of Industrial Design at Eindhoven University of Technology.
Peter earned his PhD at the Faculty of Industrial Design at TU Delft, where he remains involved as a guest researcher. In addition, he is an affiliated researcher at the AMS Institute for Advanced Metropolitan Solutions and co-founder and chair of the national Network of Applied Design Research (NADR), where professors from various domains work together and share knowledge.
