Dr Anneke Stam began her career at the Department of Work and Organizational Psychology at the University of Groningen. After becoming a professional development staff member and research advisor at the Provinciale Friese Kruisvereniging, she further pursued her interest in healthcare and the training of professionals.

Since 1990, Anneke has been involved in the higher professional degree programme in Nursing (HBO-V) at the NHL. In addition to teaching, she has fulfilled various coordinating roles and was a researcher on two RAAK projects. Her current role is to reinforce the research learning pathway in the HBO-V curriculum and to create links between the HBO-V programme and the professorships.

Her challenge is to make students enthusiastic about research related to the nursing profession so that they are better able to apply academic nursing research in practice. This mission succeeds when students come to realise how important the contribution of nursing to healthcare innovations is, and are able to embrace and promote a research culture as graduates.
