Joris completed his MSc degree in Consumer Sciences at Wageningen University. Following his studies, he worked as a researcher at Wageningen Economic Research, contributing to various projects aimed at promoting healthy and sustainable food consumption.
In August 2021, Joris joined NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences as a lecturer-researcher, where he primarily teaches courses related to behavioral change and communication. He is also a member of the Professorship Transformational Media, engaging in applied research that addresses behavioral change and sustainability.
Since February 2023, Joris started his PhD (University of Amsterdam), titled: “Resisting Unsustainable Temptations: Are Countercampaigns Effective in Cancelling Out the Effects of Advertising?” Through his research, he aims to get a better understanding of how advertising influences unsustainable consumer behavior and explore effective strategies for promoting sustainable behavior.
