If you want to get a real feel for what life is like on campus, then the Walk & Talk is the perfect option. You get a personal tour of the campus, usually from a student doing the degree you're interested in, and you get to explore all kinds of nooks and crannies so you can decide if NHL Stenden really is a good match for you – and in which study landscape you can really see yourself sitting. It was the deciding factor for Csenge Karnevál-Gusztos when he was choosing where to study.

“NHL Stenden first got my attention at a study fair. When I later spoke to a student ambassador from the uni, I started to consider it more seriously. I decided to do a Walk & Talk at NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden in February of my final year at school. It totally won me over and I started the application process.”

Personal attention

“I opted for a Walk & Talk because I wanted to speak to someone in person, look around the campus, and see what the atmosphere was really like, not just what's presented on an open day. And it worked out well! I loved how students seemed to be happy and how beautiful, well-equipped and modern the buildings are. I really did get to ask all the questions I had. I basically knew the things I really wanted to ask about but some questions just pop up as you're walking around, so it's nice that you get an answer straight away from the person showing you round.”

True reflection

“It felt really good walking around campus and it felt right then making my final decision about what to study. The whole atmosphere felt so good and welcoming. It makes such a difference to be able to see things in person and really explore the whole place. It left me feeling excited about applying and starting my degree. Of course, there's still a lot to take in and some things you see or hear but the information doesn't really land until you actually start studying here. For me, that was how each academy pretty much has its own area. It's only now I'm here that I understand how the campus is divided up. And although the whole atmosphere is like it felt during the Walk & Talk, I had to get used to the whole way of learning, what NHL Stenden calls design-based education. It's very different to what I was used to in my home country and even if you talk about it beforehand, you have to experience it to really understand how and why it works. Actually, experiencing something to really understand how and why it works is the reason the Walk & Talk is a good thing to do: it's a chance to experience what it's like on campus.
