Hannah Fitting

Hannah knew she wanted to be able to use her creative skills in her degree. She was also really interested in exploring new countries and cultures and getting to know different people. With her bachelor's degree in Marketing Management, she not only gets to explore a wide variety of fields but will also spend her third year abroad. And in the meantime, she's gained extra international experience by going on a RUN-EU programme.
“I chose Marketing Management because I wanted to do a degree with which I can be creative and explore many different fields. Marketing Management offers a broad range of subjects, so I get to explore lots of different interesting topics related to both marketing and management, including communication, marketing, research, purchase, sales and so on – and I get to directly apply everything I learn. I really like that during our studies we have to do an internship and spend time abroad for the minor as it helps you gain work experience.”
Creative mindset
“The design-based education concept at NHL Stenden is a really interesting concept. It combines practical and theoretical learning, so we get an in-depth understanding of the principles and concepts of marketing and how they can be applied in different business contexts. I enjoy working in groups and it’s a great way to try out all the things you learned. Through the concept, you are encouraged to develop creative and innovative approaches to marketing, and you have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in the real world.”
“The atmosphere on the programme is highly international. We're all from different countries, which is great. And it's all so friendly and relaxed. We all enjoy discussing things for the project with each other and this means we're also learning from each other. But I'm really interested in getting to know and experience even more cultures and a RUN-EU programme provides exactly that opportunity. Moreover, it is a great way to network with other students.”
RUN-EU
“One of my lecturers shared a link to the RUN-EU project as it fitted in with my studies. RUN-EU is the European University ‘Regional University Network’, a group of 8 universities that collaborate on joint courses and programmes including short intensive programmes. The special part about the programme I went on was that we got to work together with an actual Finnish company. RUN-EU projects always bring together experts from international organisations, universities, and industry to provide expertise and guidance to the project. This means you really get to develop a deeper knowledge of a topic. And as you're working in an international group, you gain valuable experience in project management and other professional skills. Communication may at first be a struggle because everyone is from a different culture and you don't know each other beforehand, but that quickly sorts itself out.”
“The programme was a great networking opportunity, working with students and lecturers from other countries. I had a great time and learnt a lot of things in a diverse and international environment. Moreover, I got to visit some interesting cities to get to know a new culture. It was just what I wanted.”
