“It was the social aspect of student life that was why I wanted to study. But I chose NHL Stenden because of the chance to travel abroad and for the way of learning. Not in an anonymous auditorium but in a more intimate setting. I know I learn best when someone takes me through the actions. When they see you’ve got it, then you can move on and learn the next stage. Now, when I look at the theory, I can already see in my mind how it works in practice, simply because I’ve done it. That’s how I learnt to DJ, from friends who took me through how a DJ deck works and then helped me practice. We set up our own DJing business and have done really well over the past year. I love how DJing brings people together. It’s the main reason I DJ: if there’s no crowd, there’s no me. We’re closing the business now as we’re all going abroad to study, but we’re going to carry on DJing in each of the places we’re going to. I’m heading to Bali and a friend has already tipped me about a rooftop bar I could DJ for while I’m out there.”

Meeting so many different people is a big door opener.

"I’m really glad I know now people from all over Europe, kind of all over the world. It can really help you out if you want a career on an international level. And it’s helped me dream bigger. I’m looking forward to my internship and my dream is to go to Australia. It’s not an option I would have thought possible before but I feel going abroad is a great way of upping your game. It gives you the chance to work with different people, use your skills in different ways, and it wipes away boundaries. I’m happy to go wherever opportunities take me and I really think that you can do whatever you like if that’s what you really want. It’s about imagining what you’d like most - and then going out and trying to get it.”
