“From life-changing moments to building a global network, Grand Tour in Bali has been an incredible experience”
Panna Horváth
Tourism Management student

Panna was certain that after finishing high school in Hungary, she was going to explore new cultures in many diverse places. First stop: Tourism Management at NHL Stenden. Eager to understand and learn more about different perspectives, Panna then embarked on Grand Tour, which took her to Bali. Both studying abroad and her time in Indonesia has taught her to be compassionate and to appreciate all that life has to offer.

“Like many, I was drawn in by NHL Stenden's unique Design-Based Education approach and hands-on learning opportunities. Having had an education that was theory-heavy, the prospect of team projects and practical assignments was particularly appealing. I really liked the idea of learning by doing. And this definitely played a big part in my decision to study at NHL Stenden. Even now, I still remember receiving my acceptance letter – I was so happy! That moment symbolised a lot for me, and I was so excited to start this new chapter.”

Grand Tour, grand perspectives

“While it was amazing to experience life in another European country, I knew I wanted to explore cultures beyond Europe. That’s why I decided to go on Grand Tour. I couldn’t wait to immerse myself in new traditions and open my eyes to a completely different way of living. Grand Tour took me to Bali, where I embraced the culture and grew as a person. What really stood out to me was the way the people in Bali have such a genuine appreciation for life and everything around them.”

Finding Bali-ance in life

“My passion for yoga and meditation made Bali an ideal choice. Alongside studying, I sought to deepen my knowledge and practice in these areas too. And despite the extensive planning for the trip, it was all worth it. I loved that we had classes led by Indonesian supervisors because they helped enrich my understanding of mindfulness, which I know will greatly benefit me in the future. From the life-changing moments to the opportunity to build a global network, Grand Tour in Bali has been incredible.”

“Overall, my time at NHL Stenden and in Bali has been transformative. These experiences have shaped me into a more confident, capable, and culturally aware individual. I’m so thankful that the university has provided me with chances to grow both personally and professionally.”
