“Internships are such a great way to explore potential career paths, network, and gain hands-on experience.”
Weronika Marczuk
Tourism Management student

Like many students, Weronika was unsure about what path to take when she started looking for the right university. But after hearing more about NHL Stenden at a university fair, she was sold. The Tourism Management degree has brought Weronika to Prague for her internship – and she’s making sure she seizes every opportunity that comes her way. Weronika approaches her new ventures with an open mind and in return is creating memories that will last a lifetime.

“I’ve always been very curious about the world and eager to explore it. I love travelling, and even though it might seem like a silly reason to some people, it was why I chose to study International Tourism Management. I just had a gut feeling about NHL Stenden. And what drew me in was its practical approach to learning, which ended up being the deciding factor for me over other universities. I have no regrets, and I’m so grateful for the unforgettable experiences I’ve had along the way. Looking back, I'm glad I trusted my instincts.”

Opening new doors

“NHL Stenden has many great programmes and offers a variety of opportunities. One of my favourites has been RUN-EU, which is a partnership between European universities that offers short advanced programmes. I participated in two different programmes in Portugal, and they were both amazing! I got to dive deeper into my study area, discover my new favourite destination, and embrace my passion for travel. And along the way, I met amazing people who I'll cherish forever.”

“My studies have also helped me figure out where I might want to go next – at least for now. During my Innovation & Marketing semester, I realised how much I enjoy marketing. That curiosity then sparked my interest in sales. And that’s how I ended up doing my internship in the Meeting & Event Sales department at the Hilton Prague and the Hilton Prague Old Town. I’m responsible for selling meeting spaces and accommodations to groups interested in one of our properties. I genuinely love what I’m doing, and it’s shown me I could pursue a career in this for a while. Internships are such a great way to explore potential career paths, network, and gain hands-on experience ... all while immersing yourself in new cultures and living in new places.”

Take it all in

“If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be to take advantage of every opportunity you can. Move abroad, do the internship, talk to that person because at the end of the day, we often regret the things we didn’t do more than the things we did. There’s so much to see, learn, and experience out there. It’s all worth the risk, so just go for it! There’s always a ticket back, but once you take that leap, you might just find more than one place to call home.”
