“I was impressed by the practical approach of the Hospitality Management programme, with NHL Stenden having its own hotel and restaurant where you can get real-life experience. The atmosphere is a unique mixture of professionalism and fun, filled with students eager to learn. One thing that really appealed to me is the 10-month internship because it allows you to dive deep into the company you're working for and get to know all the ins and outs. My internship was great fun and I'm glad I've found an area of the industry that I can see myself in long term.”
A five-star experience
“I decided on where I wanted to do my internship after going to NHL Stenden’s Industry Fair where I met the representatives of Aimbridge Hospitality EMEA. After securing the internship, I joined the company in a position called ‘development’, which means I assisted the department in signing new hotels to join the company’s managed portfolio. My daily tasks included liaising with investors, hotel owners, and advisors, as well as managing project timelines.
“There are so many things I liked about my internship... I don’t even know where to begin! But I think the best part is that I got to learn new things such as asset transitioning, real estate knowledge, and the brands of international franchises like Accor, Marriott, Hilton, and IHG – all in a fast-paced and challenging environment.”
New horizons
“I think doing an internship helps you put what you've learned into practice in a setting that’s very close to what you'll experience after graduating. It’s the perfect way to wrap up your studies and ease into the real world. I’ll take with me all the outcomes of the efforts I put in to deliver good results for myself and the company alike. I’ve also expanded my network, which is something that I know will be a huge help in the future, no matter where I end up.”
“Proving to myself that hard work will be recognised and can pay off has been a big lesson learned. I am planning on staying within the industry because I feel like there’s still so much to explore. There’s just something really rewarding about creating beautiful spaces and providing services for people to enjoy their free time or business trips. It’s a world I’m so excited to be a part of.”
