Kelly Moreira

Kelly Moreira is a Researcher-Lecturer within the professorship Water Technology at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. She supervises students in the Gilbert-Armstrong High Voltage Laboratory, where they work on research projects and practical experiments in high-voltage technologies, with a particular focus on electrospray systems. In addition, she is actively involved in project acquisition, including developing research proposals, securing funding, and building collaborations with industry partners and other stakeholders.

Originally from Brazil, Kelly has a background in Chemistry and holds both a Master's degree and a PhD in Physical Chemistry. In 2022, she moved to the Netherlands to conduct part of her doctoral research. After completing her PhD in 2023, she joined the Water Technology Research Group at NHL Stenden.

Her research focuses on electrohydrodynamic atomization (EHDA), commonly known as electrospray. This technology uses electric fields to transform liquids into extremely fine droplets with a high degree of control over droplet size and distribution. Because of its precision, electrospray has applications in a wide range of fields, including greenhouse technology, nanotechnology, drug delivery, coating processes, and even space propulsion.

What inspires her most is seeing laboratory research develop into technologies that can be applied in the real world. She is equally passionate about working with students and contributing to an international and multidisciplinary research environment. Her ambition is to advance scientific knowledge by fostering curiosity, innovation, and collaboration, while helping others recognize the value of science in addressing societal challenges.
