The International Business Planning semester is a second-year programme within the International Business bachelor. You as a student will follow a variety of educational activities relevant to the international business field. The uniqueness of this semester is represented by the multi-disciplinarity of the educational activities included in this minor, varying from language classes to projects focused on real-life businesses. You will work on those projects in groups with fellow students so you can learn from each other.
Module content
In this project, you will work with a real-life (or case study) company where you will modify an existing product or design a new product for export to another country. Therefore, you will study materials on two overarching topics:
- Operations and supply chain management
- Finance and accounting
For your personal and your professional development, you will:
- Follow two elective courses on topics related to the international business field
- Embark on an individual journey of self-improvement with a study coach
For Dutch, you will follow Dutch language and culture classes.
Structure of the module
When you join the International Business Planning semester, you will receive 30 ECs distributed in the following way:
- Project International Business Planning - 18 ECs
- Knowledge International Business Planning - 3 ECs
- Personal Professional Development - 4 ECs
- Dutch - 5 ECs
Throughout this minor, you will study and work on assignments and projects individually, in pairs and/or in groups (4 - 5 students). You will work with the Design Thinking phases on a project that enables you to:
- Apply the knowledge and skills gained from different educational activities offered;
- Conduct various research to fulfil the project deliverables;
- Analyse an organisation and its business aspects in a competitive landscape and within an international business context;
- Develop a strategic blueprint and the related prototype(s) for the project company.
For your personal and professional development, you will follow two chosen elective courses that focus on topics which are not explored in the minor. The topics differ from year-to-year and a final overview of electives is provided upon starting the semester. Alongside this, you will work on an assignment aimed at self-reflection and exploration of personal and professional development as well as the international business field.

The International Business Planning semester is a second-year programme within the International Business bachelor. Therefore, students are expected:
- To have the basic knowledge of international business-related topics, such as, marketing and sales, organisation and people, finance and accounting, operations and supply chain;
- To adapt to Design Based Education;
- To work in an international group of students, using English as language of communication;
- To be self-sufficient, take initiative and stick to deadlines;
- To attend lectures, workshops, and prepare themselves sufficiently for all educational activities;
- To read the obligatory reading material and complete assignments as indicated.
