Double win at the Entree Awards: two HMSL alumni take home the prizes

Two alumni from the Hotel Management School Leeuwarden made quite the impression at the Entree Awards 2025. Both SPOT Langweer and Thermen Berendonck in Wijchen walked away with prestigious awards. A memorable evening for the hospitality industry and for our community of originals.

SPOT Langweer: best new local concept

Pascal Hoogenboom, a Hospitality Management graduate, won the award for Best New Dine & Drink Concept Local with his bohemian-style grand café SPOT Langweer. The jury was impressed: “Every detail has been considered: efficiency and hospitality go hand in hand here.”

SPOT is located in the harbour of Langweer, in a former factory building transformed into a relaxed hangout full of beach club vibes. From brunch to late-night drinks: guests instantly feel at home.

Thermen Berendonck: luxury with a vision

Thermen Berendonck in Wijchen also took home a prize. The new hotel - part of Thermen Resorts and led by alumnus Fabian Dolman - was crowned Best New Luxury Hotel 2025.

According to the jury, the hotel offers “a near-un-Dutch luxury experience,” with Indian-inspired décor, hand-crafted interiors, high-end wellness facilities, and an underground passage connecting it to the spa. From the herb garden to the sensory tunnel: sustainable, sophisticated and bold.
