Education ensures that workers have the skills to function in a knowledge-intensive environment. This is what SDG 4 is about and is also our main goal as a university of applied sciences. Our commitment to this SDG is reflected in various areas.
We see it as our mission to contribute to the personal development of students and to the social progress of the regions in which we operate through inclusive, high-quality education and research. We work on global innovation with our educational concept Design-Based Education. Sustainability is on the key facets of this educational concept. In each study programme, students are confronted with aspects of their future field related to sustainability on which they get to in a solution-based way.
Teaching & Research
We tackle three major social issues with our education and research as well as within our labs:
Vital Regions: the quality of life and future of the regions from an economic, social and educational perspective
Smart Sustainable Industries: the development of smart and sustainable technologies, materials and production
Service Economy: the rapid developments and associated social issues in the domain of leisure activities, tourism and hospitality
Within the Education research group, several professorships carry our applied research aimed at mapping out and improving the quality of education. In this way we contribute to a stronger knowledge based as well as to improvement of education and innovation.
