We need to be building more homes and industrial estates, but need to retain space for agriculture and restore and preserve our natural environment. These interests sometimes conflict with one another, putting any which one under pressure. Biodiversity is the key issue where the natural environment is concerned. This is what SDG 15 is about and at NHL Stenden we contribute to that goal as follows.
Biodiversity provides clean air, fresh water, good soil quality and crop pollination. We manage our own green spaces at our locations in a way that is sustainable, organic and focused on the long term. In addition, we, as NHL Stenden have signed the BIJENPACT bee conservation agreement alongside 32 businesses, authorities and institutions.

Biodiversity not only features as a key issue in our business operations but is also embedded in our teaching and research.
