The third SDG focuses on good health and well-being. Tackling smoking, obesity and problematic alcohol consumption stands to improve the health of many Dutch citizens. At NHL Stenden we focus on these issues in various ways.
At NHL Stenden, we work with a wide range of parties in the areas of education, research and facilities management on fostering good health and well-being in our society. At our various sites, this is achieved, among other things, by making the campus a smoke-free zone, but also by giving students a place to meet and socialise through Campus Connect.
Teaching & Research
Within our teaching and research, we contribute to the Vital Regions and are committed to the health and well-being of our fellow humans beings in that endeavour. For example, in our Healthcare and Well-being research group, we have no less than 9 professorships, both inside and outside healthcare institutions, that focus on improving health and well-being in society. This ranges from Music therapy for depression to developing tools and new applications within the healthcare sector. We also offer various study programmes and minors such as Nursing of Social Work, where students learn to work to support fellow human beings.
