HyBRIt won the Team Science Award at the NWO Domain Science Prizes 2022, this Monday. This research team consists of members of the University of Groningen and NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. The award consists of a cash prize of 10,000 euros, to be spent on further strengthening the team.

At this year's NWO Domain Science Prizes 2022, two research teams will receive the Team Science Award: team HyBRIt and team iCMR. These teams consist of researchers from different disciplines, with young talents collaborating with senior researchers. They will each receive 10,000 euros.

HyBRIt (Hybrid research group Biopolymer and Recycling Innovations) consists of members of the University of Groningen and NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. By joining forces, the research team can cover the entire spectrum from fundamental to applied research in the multidisciplinary field of sustainable polymer science. By better understanding how materials work and creating smart product designs, the team aims to fundamentally rethink the way we make, use and reuse polymeric materials.

The jury is very excited about the intensive collaboration between the university and HBO. They see great added value in the collaboration because it stimulates further interaction. In addition, the jury is also impressed by the attention HyBRIt has received from the general public.

iCMR (interventional cardiac MRI) is a team at Maastricht University Medical Center+ that aims to improve the treatment of patients with cardiac arrhythmias using technological advances. Combining their diverse expertise, this team uses basic science, biomedical technology and patient care to achieve their goal.

NWO Domain Science Prizes 2022

From Monday, November 28 through Friday, December 2, the NWO's Science (ENW) domain will award five special scientific prizes for the third time. The winners are seen by the jury as an inspiration in the areas of societal impact, team science, excellent science, diversity and communication. The awards aim to reward scientists who are committed to this and inspire others to do so. Nine winners will receive a total of 330,000 euros.
