Student Housing Leeuwarden
There are lots of different types of accommodation available in Leeuwarden and prices vary depending on room type and location. We urge you to start looking for accomodation at least 3-4 months prior to your study start. Make sure you check the rental price includes electricity, gas and wifi!
Watch the video below to find out how two of our students, Emma and Margherita, found their student accommodation.
Types of accommodation
In the Netherlands, students usually rent a room in a shared house or apartment with other students, but you could also rent a one-bedroom or studio apartment. Student accommodation is usually provided by real estate agents or private landlords who advertise their rooms on different platforms.
Guaranteed accommodation for Non-EU students
For students from countries outside the EU we have a room guarantee agreement until the 1st of July for the September intake and the 1st of December for the February intake, with our official accommodation partner StudentStay. It takes away the worries of finding a room and you can choose to rent for one or two semesters. Depending on room availability, EU students can also sign up for a room at StudentStay. Simply register through the StudentStay website.
StudentStay provides affordable accommodation (furnished and unfurnished + shared and independent) located near the university campus and the city centre.
Students from outside the EU are guaranteed furnished accommodation on our Leeuwarden campus.
