As lead author of several highly cited publications in leading academic journals, Dennis Vegter has made a significant contribution to both the academic and practical development of circular supply chain management. In 2020, he was the lead author of an influential publication that laid the foundation for integrating circularity and sustainability into the SCOR model—a framework used by more than 100,000 professionals and 5,000 organizations worldwide to design and improve supply chain processes. He also played a key role in the most recent update of the SCOR model in 2022, focusing on circularity and sustainability, commissioned by the Association for Supply Chain Management. His scientific impact was recognized in 2023 with the ‘Most Downloaded Paper Award’ from the leading journal Resources, Conservation & Recycling.

In addition to academic and applied research, Dennis shares his expertise in a variety of ways. He was a panelist at COP27, the United Nations Climate Conference (2022), co-authored whitepapers for the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and the United Nations (2023), has been a member of the Supply Chains Steering Committee of the Dutch Top Sector Logistics (since 2024), and serves as an advisor to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (2025).
