Sara de Hoog - Junior researcher in online group polarization

Sara is part of the Research Group Organisations and Social Media at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, where she focuses on the impact of online influence processes. She has developed a strong interest in group polarization and the role of social media an overarching theme throughout her work.

She translated her research into interactive workshops addressing topics such as filter bubbles, in-group and out-group bias, and group polarization. These workshops are implemented across various educational contexts and support participants in developing a more critical and informed approach to online.

In addition to her role as a lecturer within the BA Communication and the AD Online Content Creator programmes, Sara is  currently conducting her master's research on how educators can navigate societal differences in the classroom. In doing so, she bridges design-based research, education, and a broader societal challenge.
