Evelien van der Meer and Angela Hendriksen, two students from the Creative Business study programme at NHL Stenden, won the BMY Creative Cup 2025 at RTL in Hilversum on Wednesday. Their TV format on femicide fits perfectly with the ideas of the NPO, according to the jury. They are now being mentored by the AVROTROS format team to further develop their idea.

Under the group name The Hive, Evelien van der Meer and Angela Hendriksen submitted a television format about femicide. In the documentary series “Haar naam...” (Her name...), they draw attention to this topic. Through reconstructions, conversations with relatives, and insights from specialists, they aim to paint a clear and accessible picture of femicide cases.

The aim is to raise awareness and emphasise the social urgency of this topic. With their pitch during the final day on Wednesday at RTL in Hilversum, they made a big impression on the jury, consisting of Ralph de Beurs (Creative Director RTL), Bart Barnas (Media Director AVROTROS) and Annelies Sitvast (Head of Local Originals Amazon MGM Studios).

Proud and happy

Evelien and Angela: ‘The competition was extremely strong and the formats were difficult to compare. That made us uncertain at first; we thought our concept might be left out. So it came as a huge surprise when our concept was declared the winner. We are really very proud and happy.’

The Broadcast Media Young (BMY) Creative Cup is an annual event in Hilversum and is popular among colleges and universities in the Netherlands. This year, twenty participants competed for the best format for a broadcaster, including two student teams from the Creative Business programme at NHL Stenden.
