What started as an ambitious graduation project has grown into the Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences: a vibrant platform for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Last Tuesday, the Center for Entrepreneurship (CfE) at NHL Stenden celebrated a significant milestone: five years of entrepreneurship in education and the region. What began as a student-led initiative has developed into a dynamic center that inspires students, nurtures talent, and drives innovation—creating an impact that extends beyond the campus. The Lustrum provided a festive occasion to reflect on these five years and look ahead to what the future holds. The celebration was opened by Marenthe Smedinga, followed by inspiring speeches from Patrick Bemelmans and Hans Schülski. Hans highlighted the heart of the CfE, saying: “The drive has always been by and for students.” These words encapsulate what the CfE stands for: a place where entrepreneurship is lived, talent is developed, and collaboration is central.

Reflecting on Five Years of CfE

During the Lustrum, the highlights of five years of CfE came to life. Visitors explored the CfE museum, which showcased projects and successes from recent years, and witnessed the unveiling of an impressive timeline of the center by community members. Student entrepreneurs presented their initiatives at interactive stands, demonstrating how they have transformed their ideas into successful ventures. The day concluded with a collective toast, symbolizing the energy and engagement of students, partners, and staff.

Inspiration and Distinction

The CfE responds to key trends such as entrepreneurship, sustainability, and technological innovation, distinguishing itself by placing students at the center and giving them space to experiment and learn. While support for student entrepreneurs was still in its early stages five years ago, the center now offers structured programs, international opportunities, and inspiring initiatives that help students grow both personally and professionally. Moreover, the CfE strengthens the regional ecosystem through close collaboration with entrepreneurs and partners, making entrepreneurship visible not only on campus but also throughout the region.

Looking Ahead and Collaborating

Looking forward, the CfE remains committed to enhancing entrepreneurship programs within academic programs, providing international experiences, and developing innovative initiatives such as circular entrepreneurship and the Entrepreneurial Mindset. The Lustrum not only marks five years of success but also symbolizes a solid foundation for future growth, innovation, and collaboration.
