Dr Jacqueline R. Rietveld is Professor of Applied Sciences in People, Work & Organisation at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. Her research group focuses on promoting sustainable employment relationships, with particular attention to creating a people-centred work environment. Key questions include: How do future professionals develop empathy and social responsibility? What do employees at different life stages need to remain employable? And how do resilient SMEs in the region contribute to greater job security?

Dr Jacqueline R. Rietveld studied Work and Organisational Psychology at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her PhD at the University of Humanistic Studies on the professionalisation of selection psychology. At NHL Stenden, she led a consultancy bureau in labour and education assessments and co-founded the Human Resource Management degree programme as a senior lecturer. She also acts as Confidential Advisor on Academic Integrity, teaches research methodology within the Academy of Business & Leadership, and provides leadership training that incorporates horse coaching.
Since 2016, she has been conducting research into sustainable HR policy. She has led projects on learning communities for innovation, inclusive labour markets, and serious gaming. The results have been published in academic journals, presented at conferences, and shared via regional media and a podcast (onderzoekinorganisaties.nl). In education, she played a key role in developing minors such as Healthy Careers, The Art of Ethical Leadership, Graduation Bootcamp and Zinlab, where students reflect on meaningful career paths.
Her work envisions a future where work is not only about productivity, but also about meaning, wellbeing and respectful relationships.
