Guido Swildens is currently holding a position as lecturer and researcher Serious Gaming at the NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. His focus is to conduct research using a design-based research approach into the design, implementation, and value contribution of serious gaming, as well as on teaching in the Master Serious Gaming program. He focuses particularly on games for safety and security, one of the research themes of the research group.

Before he became involved with the Serious Gaming research and the Master Serious Gaming program, Guido was a senior lecturer in game design at the Communication & Multimedia Design bachelor program. Throughout his academic career, he has been focusing on development and implementation of change management, design-based research, organizational skills, and serious gaming approaches to explore and research new possibilities and opportunities with partners in the work field. In terms of his formal education, he holds a master’s degree in Management from the Open University of the Netherlands.
