Basic Training for ships operating in Polar waters

Practical information

The duration of the course is 2,5 days, from Monday until Wednesday. Course group size will be between 4 and 8 trainees.

WK 16             17-19 April 2023
WK 23             05-07 June 2023
WK 28             10-12 July 2023

Location

The course will be given at the Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz (MIWB) on Terschelling. This institute is located at Dellewal 8 on West-Terschelling and is one of the best equipped nautical and technical institutes in the Netherlands, part of NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. The MIWB has all the facilities to complete your studie as professionally as possible, such as unique simulators and well-equipped labs and workshops.

Course fee

The course fee of Basic Training for ships operating in Polar waters is € 1080,- (exempt from VAT), including lunch, coffee, and tea, excluding travel and subsistence expenses.

Entry requirements

This course is meant for masters, chief mates and officers in charge of a navigational watch in ships operating in polar waters, with a valid CoC.

Certification

The training programme has been approved by the Netherlands Shipping Inspectorate. Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate for Basic training for ships operating in polar waters will be issued.
