What Computer Science offers 

With our Computer Science programme, you develop skills in digitalisation, data science and other smart technologies. You discover your strengths and particular areas of interest when it comes to programming hardware and explore different programming languages and hardware platforms in the field of computer vision, robotics and AI. You  also develop essential collaboration and communication skills for working in a professional environment. The NHL Stenden campus in Emmen is home to some exciting state-of-the-art technology, so you get to work with the latest developments. And you’ll love the personal atmosphere on our campus, with your personal study coach guiding you through your studies.

Computer Science in practice

You work on hands-on projects with real companies throughout the course, working collaboratively in small groups and drawing on the expertise of instructors and professionals in computer science. In our Computer Science programme, we believe in learning by doing and this practical approach ensures that you graduate not only with knowledge but also with valuable, real-world experience. At the start of the programme, you develop a strong foundation in computer science through the BattleBot project. The BattleBot project is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to key computer science concepts and ends with a competitive contest on race day. This practical method of working (what we call Design-Based Education) means you learn to refine your problem-solving skills through continuous feedback, fostering adaptability, and honing your teamwork and leadership abilities within the realm of computer science. By delving into practical applications, you gain first-hand experience in addressing real-world challenges.

Gain international experience

Studying Computer Science at NHL Stenden means developing your skills in digitalization, data science and programming hardware, and exploring how it strongly influences various aspects of modern life. Our participation in RUN-EU means you can join Short Advanced Programmes and carry out projects with partner institutions in Europe. You can also go to one of the NHL Stenden’s Grand Tour locations in South AfricaBali or Thailand in your third year. Or you can go on an exchange to a partner institution and delve into a totally new way of studying.
